What is Masque Vivant?
Masque Vivant is a rebalancing mask designed to purify, regulate oil, refine pores, and restore balance to the skin all without stripping it. And, that last part (not stripping your skin) is what makes it different from most purifying masks on the market.
It works on multiple levels at once: drawing out impurities and excess sebum, gently exfoliating the surface to encourage cell turnover, and calming inflammation at the same time. The result is skin that feels genuinely clean and balanced rather than tight or irritated.

What ingredients make Masque Vivant so special?
There are four key ingredients that make Masque Vivant so incredible, and each does something specific:
Yeast Extract: rich in vitamin B, this is the ingredient that regulates oil production and gives Masque Vivant its rebalancing properties. It helps clarify the skin without disrupting its natural moisture levels.
Lactic Acid: a gentle AHA that exfoliates the surface and encourages cell turnover. Mild enough for sensitive skin, but effective enough to make a visible difference in texture and radiance over time.
Witch Hazel: a natural astringent that tightens pores and reduces inflammation. Particularly useful for acne-prone or reactive skin where redness and irritation tend to accompany congestion.
Cucumber Extract: soothing and hydrating,this is why Masque Vivant can be used on sensitive skin as it counterbalances the purifying action of the other ingredients.
How to use Masque Vivant
Before you apply: Cleanse first, then apply your preferred Lotion P50. Lotion P50 preps the skin's pH and opens the surface so the mask can penetrate deeper. It sounds small, but it makes a real difference to the results.
Application: Spread a thin, even layer over the face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Cold water helps close the pores after the mask has done its work.
After: Follow immediately with your serum and moisturizer (and, if the time is right, don’t forget your SPF!). The mask is the key that opens the door for your other products to be more effective.
How often: For oily or acne-prone skin, two to three times a week. For dry or sensitive skin, start with once a week and adjust based on how your skin responds.
Is Masque Vivant worth it?
Yes! And we say that as people who've used it on thousands of clients over nearly 30 years. It's one of the most consistently effective masks in the Biologique Recherche range, which is why it remains a staple in our treatment room rather than a trend we moved on from.
It's particularly worth it if congestion, oil regulation, or dullness are ongoing concerns for your skin. Used consistently, it makes a real difference to how your skin behaves over time.
